Peacock Tail chords

Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:00 pm

Messing about on the piano as you do, I found what I believe to be the chords for Peacock Tail. All the chords are major:

G flat / D flat / A flat / E flat / B flat/F / F

That fifth chord is a B flat major over an F in the bass; on my little version it is a second inversion (ie starts on F then B flat then D) which then resolves nicely to a F major triad.

Of course, on the record it sounds about a quarter tone flat - a piano tuned to A=440Hz would sound horribly sharp.

I have an erratum to add to my original post, because I forgot one of the chords in the sequence. The chords are:

G flat major - D flat major - A flat major - E flat major -
G flat major - B flat major/F - F major

This song is in the key of A.

According to your chord progression it sounded way off.

Here's my "version" of Peacock Tail, using the chords I suggested at the top of this thread.

Please forgive my crap piano playing....

Very interesting to hear.. I'm loving that we're getting new covers of songs that havn't been covered before. I think posting something like this whether it's accurate or not, will at least increase our musical understanding, and our appreciation for BoC
