Just before the counting starts, you can hear a woman saying (I think) "I had a very special dream". I was listening on headphones one day and wasn't really concentrating on what I was listening to when I noticed the sample for the first time.

Oh wow, that you for pointing that out! On close listening with headphones I think it's "I had a very Lovely dream".

YOU BASTARD.

I don't get what the problem is. In fact, I find it cool that the bell is just the first of a three-part percussion phrase that gets repeated through the whole song. Reggae often has pretty clever percussion work.

After it bugging me vaguely for quite a while (but clearly not enough for me to go look in the song thread, where it's been mentioned a few times), I've only recognised that the first sound in New Seeds is a radio picking up a mobile phone ring.

I love that. That's probably what drew me into that song initially. I bet they were just jamming and heard the interference coming through one of the amps and got the idea to sample it. The way all the instruments/bass/guitar are layered together. The song is so hopeful, easily one of my favourite boc songs.

I picked up on that right away. I'm quite pleased with myself as I don't usually get these things on the first listen.

The sense of hope in that song is tremendous. It reminds me of the end of Battlestar Galactica. Sort of starting again from scratch with a new found sense of hope.

Then the last track kindly reminds us that the New Seeds are also fucked. Heading the same way as the society/civilisation that ended in Collapse. "All of this has happened before and it will happen again and again..."

Pretty cool that the hi-hat pattern in Split Your Infinities is a reprise of the one that comes in at 1:30 in Sick Times.
Is this really obvious and I'm waay behind? Or is the pattern actually pretty different? I've heard it now and can't unhear it.

I meant to post this in here, but I suppose it works in the TH thread too, can't figure out how to move/delete posts.

Awesome spot! :) I've heard that rhythm for years and never thought of it as a train but it bloody well is isn't it!

These last 8 tracks have the literal hardest impact on me in BOC's entire discography.

Makes you wonder if they were inspired by the medley on Abbey Road...

Hey now that is interesting. Never thought to make a Beatles connection, but of course there is some influence on them as they've said.

Anyway I think my favourite transition they've done for me is the one between J and C and The Smallest Weird Number. The way the fabric of the main melody ripples and waves like a stone into dropped into a pond, I can visualise it perfectly, and then fades away into bird calls and the opening of SWN.

If you check out their remix of Clouddead's Dead Dogs Two its very Psychedelic and especially Beatlesque near the end, reverse sounds, flutey melletron's etc, finishing on a very similar held piano chord as A day in The Life . :)

I have heard it many times and again feel a bit dumb, you are right. It is very beatles-esque.

Seven forty-seven finishes on a very similar piano chord as well.

I've always thought Revolver has a very similar tone in parts to Geogaddi.

At 3:25 of An Eagle In Your Mind, you can hear the sound of plane going overhead.
