I think they get a kick out of making you guys sweat too.

Also I’m calling bullshit on MDG. Whoever this person claims to be, they're nothing more than a troll and they’re taking us for a ride. Don’t care what anyone says, this individual is not a legitimate source and is one thousand and ten percent full of shit. Congratulations on being suckered. You’ve been trolled to hell and back.

The only troll here is you, dude, and you suck at it.

Keep telling yourself that. MDG has never been verified or acknowledged by the bros and you guys all bought into it hook line and sinker.

Endless repetition here, I'm going loopy on the roundabout.

They're not making me sweat, but you seem to be getting flustered, sir/madam.

I have been lurking here since around 2009, and this type of post has been a regular occurrence since then.

There is no expectation for you to be enthusiastic. There also is no expectation for you to wait around until they get their shit together.

Take deep breaths and go for a nice walk.

Welcome to twoism AcidRolodex. I can't tell from your post whether you are cynical or real but you are not fully informed. Take a look at the Tomorrow's Harvest announcement and the role twoism.org had in it and you'll know enough.

I also advise you to watch your tone for a moment. There is nothing wrong with being skeptical, but respectful.

I would venture a guess that whether we get a new Boards of Canada album, and what the nature of its art would be, may be largely dependent on the way things will turn out with the human species in the 'foreseeable' future.

MDG is legit connected to the band and has proved this several times over the years.

But I'm going to point out what i've never seen anyone else say regarding his rare comments over the many years (e.g. bocset coming, new album coming) - I am sure they were genuinely true statements, to his probably limited knowledge. But they were only true at the time. Things change. People get older, have kids, get ill, move away, have to care for elderly parents, decide to do something else.

It's clear BOC were never a business to the Sandison brothers, more a hobby. However they make their living it's certainly not through selling vinyl and a few t-shirts every 10 years. We don't know what has happened to them in their lives in the past decade or whatever. Maybe they hate each other now, maybe one of them got really ill, maybe they decided they are not that into making music after all, or working on music (especially in the time-consuming way that they do) wasn't a good use of their time compared to whatever else they do to support themselves and their families.

I also have basically given up hoping we'll ever see another LP. If we do, great, but I doubt it. Just because MDG said they were working on new music 8 years ago doesn't mean anything. I'm sure that was true then, but doesn't make it true now, or ever again in the future.

Even if this was true, this situation would never deserve your needless, child language vitriole. There are so many nice, pleasant people on here, and then there's you who stand out like a sore thumb. I know you'll retort back, criticise me, and allude to you not caring what anyone thinks, but this is your problem.

Mate, don't be more hate in this world. Be part of the solution. In you current guise, this forum needs you like a hole in the head.

Have fun buddy. I love ya!

Is there a definitive or speculative thread about original music BOC might have produced, worked on or made under a different name besides working for Sexual Objects and suchlike?

This is a very solid post and I agree with almost everything, but I need to correct you on the 8 years bit. MDG's statement was posted June 29th 2022, that's 2 years and 3 months ago, hardly 8 years, right? MDG also reconfirmed this to me in February 2023.
Let's also not forget the message BoC posted on their official Threads account on 2023-07-25: "Welcome to the official BOC Threads. Follow here for future news & announcements etc."

It's still happening. I'm still positive.
PS: There were rumblings of TH as early as 2008. We all know they take their time for whatever reason.

Totally on board with you Fredd-E, I've never doubted for a second that there isn't a BOCset and new album coming and I'm looking forward to saying I told you so to all the naysayers and haters (sorry, it's childish, but I am).

MDG's comms + the ongoing trickle of social media activity suggests they are very much alive and very much active, there would be literally no point in perpetuating the social channels if they were defunct.

I have a feeling the next release is just fairly monumental, especially the BOCset, I'm guessing multiple vinyls and elaborate gatefold packaging. I can't help feel that we are in for a real treat in 2025. :)

Yes, I forgot to mention, in 2024 they seem to have ramped up posting videos on Instagram. For the very first time they included one of theirs (Dayvan Cowboy + Invocation stitched at the end) and it seems in high quality (possibly an AI upscale, but still).
PIC uploading a high quality studio version of ATP-06 to his stories was another highlight for sure. All the old tunes are now also on YouTube's copyright system on Warp's behalf. BoC's profiles are meta verified. BoC stopped using boctransmission on Twitter and finally got hold of boardsofcanda.

And about 2025? At the very least they should throw a big 30th anniversary party. 8)

MDG is either Mike or Marcus, or both. That’s just my personal belief. I remember there were always talks that they would release at least five LPs under Warp. And yes, their 30th anniversary shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Yeah, fair. I did pick the 8 years figure off the top of my head. Didn't realise he had said something that recently, so yeah i guess that's positive. But he has said similar things in the past, and they haven't happened or taken many years, so my point stands. If we see it we see it, but I've given up expecting anything. I'm not convinced the social media activity or copyright stuff means anything at all except the minimum of intellectual property maintenance that any reasonably responsible label or artist does.

To be honest, my enthusiasm for the band has waned a lot recently. Over 18 years I've been reading this forum (though been a fan of the band since MHTRTC) and in all that time we've had a single album and 3 or 4 remixes. I know they don't owe us anything, but I wish they weren't so precious about their process and reputation. We know from the leaks and live shows they have plenty of great music in their archives. I don't think it's too much to have hoped for more in all this time.

Anyway, let's hope you are right and I am proven wrong.
